Using Renovative Design

A floor plan in three steps: draw a boundary, pick a matching layout, then refine and download it as a CAD file. Here is exactly what each step involves.

Draw your boundary

Block out the shape of the flat by dragging rectangles onto the canvas — overlap them freely, they merge into one outline. Use Draw to add a block and Erase to cut one away; Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Shift+Z undo and redo.

Switch to the Entry tool and click the outline where the front door goes. A width slider controls how wide the opening is.

Choose a layout network

Before you export, pick which model will generate the rooms. They trade speed for different strengths:

Graph2PlanThe default. Fast, and the network this service has always used.
WallPlanGrows walls straight from your outline and picks the rooms itself — no reference plan to choose, so it skips the next step.
Graph poolDraws dozens of possible arrangements for your outline and keeps the best against your room filters. Slower, but the strongest results. Also skips the next step.
Tree planCuts your outline into rooms with a tree of straight walls, so nothing overlaps. Slower than Graph2Plan.
DiffPlannerA diffusion model solving where the rooms go in vector form, from the same library match Graph2Plan uses.
HouseDiffusionA diffusion model that draws room corners from the room layout alone — it never sees your outline, so it needs more correcting afterwards.
FloorplanSBSDivides your outline into labelled patches. Experimental, and every wall lands on a grid line.

When you export, you are asked for the real-world length of one wall — every other measurement in the finished CAD file scales from that single number.

Find a matching plan

Skipped automatically by WallPlan and Graph pool, which draw rooms straight from your outline and need no reference plan.

For every other network, a grid of candidate layouts from the reference library appears — closest matches to your outline first. Narrow it down with room filters: a count per room type, with a toggle for “at least” that many versus exactly that many.

Compare matches scores every candidate against your own boundary and reorders them by how well-organised the result is, not just how close the outline match was. Click a candidate to see its rooms fitted onto your boundary before you continue.

Build, refine and download

The rooms are solved onto your boundary as a working drawing: walls, door swings and window openings. From here you can:

  • Drag a door to slide it along its wall.
  • Drag a window to slide it around the outside wall.
  • Drag an interior wall to resize the rooms on either side of it — their doors move with it.
  • Drag a room itself into an empty corner of the flat.

Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Shift+Z undo and redo any of it, and Reset puts the plan back exactly as it was first solved. Changing anything marks the quality figures as describing the plan before your edit; a Re-check plan button re-scores it.

Save DXF downloads the finished CAD file and counts one download against your plan's allowance. SVG exports the on-screen drawing as-is, free and uncounted, at any point. If you reach your plan's daily limit it refills at midnight UTC; if the plan itself has run out or ended, choose another one under Pricing.

Your drawing and choices are saved in your browser as you go, so reloading the page or going back a step never loses them. That save is kept per browser tab, though — it will not follow you to another tab or device, and closing the tab or clearing site data clears it.
